General Rules
Pappy’s Headquarters Squadron Group is a group of WW2 online
flying simulation enthusiasts. We
believe that the pleasure of our games is derived from the portrayal of full immersion role playing and historical
accuracy of our Group sorties. Some
members are actual veteran military combat pilots who enjoy virtual reenactment
of their learned skills.
All Pappy’s Headquarters squadrons must obey and follow these rules. All
squadrons are free to add their own rules and policy as long as they do not
conflict with the rules of Group Headquarters.
Pappy’s Headquarters Squadron Group is part
of the IL-2 Sturmovik and Forgotten Battles flying simulation community, flying
online on the HyperLobby server. Our
Squadrons also enjoy other combat flight simulations served on the private
(members only) CyberscapeSimNet Servers.
Currently Pappy’s Servers host IAF, F-15, IL-2 FB, EAW & WWII
Fighters. There are currently 27
member Squadrons located worldwide.
1. To join Pappy’s Headquarters
Squadron Group, you must be at least 18 years of age. You must also have a
working knowledge of the English language.
Exceptions may be considered, with the approval of the CyberscapeSimNet
Board for squadrons participating solely within their own nationalities..
2. All Pappy’s Headquarters
Squadron Group members must be "active" pilots. Flying at least
once monthly with their respective squadron is required. Exceptions can be made in certain
circumstances by the CyberscapeSimNet Board for members with personal duty
responsibilities.
3. We respect our members’
privacy. At very least each member’s e-mail address must be supplied to their
Squadron C.O. Members e-mail, MSN
Messenger, or ICQ address will be not be published or distributed to others
without prior permission. IP addresses will never be disclosed or published.
4. We want to improve our ability
as virtual pilots, and make this possible for all other Pappy’s Headquarters
Squadron Group members. We set training nights as an opportunity to fly
together with other Pappy's Headquarters Group members. Every pilot should at
least join one training night per week. All members must give another member tips and
comments to improve combat and flying skills, when he sees the other member is
not as good as he is. By doing this we can get all pilots to an equal level.
You shall always try learning to fly good and with the highest difficulty
settings: train with other members and read the tactics page to help you get
better. When you spot opponents weakness, exploit it if you can, but be kind
enough to tell him about it later (especially fellow squadron or wing members).
5. We believe in gentlemanly
behavior, with honor and respect for one another, both in virtual and in real
life. You shall maintain a sporting approach to all contests. You shall never
use offensive language, either in the game or in public or restricted forums.
Terms that are 'in the spirit of actual events' are allowed, as well as
historically correct markings on planes. You shall never open fire on a member
of another Pappy’s Headquarters Squadron Group member, or against any
other pilot flying on the same game side, unless previously authorized by
him/her. You shall not deliberately pick upon any particular person for a
prolonged amount of time.
6. During coop missions and
dogfights, you shall not fire on a damaged pilot attempting to land, unless previously
agreed at the beginning of the game. An opponent with gear down and a heavily
damaged aircraft is considered to be a sign of surrender, and shall be
respected. This rule does not apply for VEF and other online tournaments, where
the specific tournament rules are applied.
7. You shall respect all rules of
any online campaign or tournament in which you are engaged. You will not influence
your kill score or that of someone else (e.g. firing on a plane which is
already fatally damaged). Your behavior reflects our sense of honor in the Pappy’s
Headquarters Squadron Group. Be proud of it.
8. Using cheats hacks etc. is not
allowed. Anyone suspected of such action will be judged by a martial court, and
expelled from the Pappy’s Headquarters Squadron Group, permanently.
9. Do not pass Pappy’s
Headquarters Squadron Group tactics, radio frequencies IPs and forum passwords
to others.
10. Check in at your squadron HQ
regularly. Read the messages in the Officers Club at least once a week.
They contain useful information for you!
11. Use of MSN Messenger
(MSM) and Roger Wilco (RW) is promoted. MSN Messenger is free and helps you to
contact other players, while they are not at the same game server as you. Roger
Wilco enables you to talk to others while flying, this way you can cooperate
more easily. The links to these programs can be found at our favorite links page.
12. All those who want to leave Pappy’s
Headquarters Squadron Group can do so at any moment, by communicating their
decision to their Squadron Leader.
If you plan to stop flying on-line for a while, let us know. If you are taking
vacation for a period of time, request LEAVE. If you don't feel like
flying any more tell us to you wish to RETIRE. This way you can rejoin
again if you choose to do so. If we don't hear from you and don't see you for 2
weeks you get the status MIA (Missing In Action), after a month POW
(Prisoner Of War) and after a longer time KIA (Killed In Action).
When you have the status K.I.A. you are banned from Pappy’s
Headquarters Squadron Group and not able to join group sessions. If you
return from M.I.A. or P.O.W. status it is very likely that you
will loose your rank.
